I sweat the small stuff and find a way to justify the bigger issues. I think it’s possible to make the same connections with mfp but for me it’s kind of harder and I’ll worry about whether it was half a cup or 3/4 cup of almond milk but not worry about whether it was 1 or 3 tablespoons of chocolate chips. I can still eat French fries but they are so high in points that if I eat just a handful more than I need I will go over my points for the week. Weight watchers helps me identify foods that I need to be careful around. If you give me a plate of French fries I can’t stop eating them.

If you give me a plate of apples I’ll eat one or two until I’m satisfied. I got obese from eating sugary, fatty foods that taste so good I have issues with portions. But here’s the thing, I didn’t get obese by eating too many skinless chicken breasts or half cups of almond milk. And on any given day you might eat a pretty wide range of calories. They say “but a calorie is a calorie!” And to some degree they are right. This drives some people bonkers and I get it. But a tablespoon of chocolate chips? 4 points! And on certain weight watchers plans some things that have plenty of calories like skinless chicken breasts are declared to be zero points. Things get even wilder when you realize that sometimes things with a lot of protein make something less points. But irl almond milk is like 30 calories for a cup.

Here’s an example: a cup of unsweetened almond milk is 1 point, but a half a cup is zero. For example, I can have up to four cups of homemade turkey chili for only one point!įor me mfp lead me to obsess about calories in a way I don’t obsess over points for some reason. I still have points to spend on other foods, but the purple plan gets me to choose healthier options much more often than not.

They want you to stick with that color for at least two weeks before changing it, so you have a chance to adjust and see if it's working for you. Purple has lower daily points but more zero point options, green is the opposite and blue is in the middle. Sure, so the main differences in the plans are how many "zero point" food options you have and how many daily points you get.
